The Yeosu Declaration Signature Kiosk opened on May 12 at the entrance to the Expo Hall as well as on the internet and smartphones (QR code) to garner global support for the Yeosu Declaration.
- The 2nd International Symposium was held under the theme “The Effects of Climate Change on the World's Oceans” on May 16, 2012 at the Expo Hall. At the Symposium, promotional activities for the Yeosu Declaration were conducted to collect opinions about and secure support for the Yeosu Declaration.
※ Second International Symposium: Effects of Climate change on the World's Oceans This Symposium is held every four years in collaboration with PICES (North Pacific Marine Science Organization), ICES (International Council for the Exploration of the Sea), and the UNESCO-IOC (Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission).

The 9th Intergovernmental Session of the IOC Sub-Commission for the Western Pacific was held on May 11, 2012, at the Paradise Hotel in Busan, and in the Session, a presentation on the Yeosu Declaration was made to collect opinions and garner support for the Yeosu Declaration.

The 3rd International Planning Meeting is held on Feb. 8, 2012 at the Hotel Shilla in Seoul, where Official Participants are informed of the preparation process of the Yeosu Declaration and their opinions gathered. The presentation is aimed at securing even further support from Official Participants for the declaration.
At the 13th Annual Meeting of POGO (Hawaii, USA, Jan. 9, 2012), the Yeosu Declaration is briefed to participants to gather opinions and secure support.
• Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans (POGO) is a forum created by the directors and leaders of major oceanographic institutions worldwide to promote inter-institutional cooperation on global marine climate issues.

The International Drafting Committee (2 members) and Review Committee (17 members) comprised of experts from international organizations and research institutes such as Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) are established to prepare the English version of the Yeosu Declaration draft based on the Korean version.
At the 8th IOC/WESTPAC International Scientific Symposium (Busan, March) and the mid-term meeting of PICES (Hawaii, USA, April), a promotional presentation of the Yeosu Declaration is given and discussions are held.
At the annual meeting of the UN Ocean (New York, June 17, 2011), a session on the Yeosu Declaration is held.
Various promotional activities such as distributing leaflets and posters are carried out by the steering committee of the GOF (New York, June 19, 2011).
A presentation on the Yeosu Declaration is given at the 26th annual meeting of the IOC (Paris, June 23, 2011) in order to draw the attention and support of the international community for the declaration.
UN Ocean is an organization comprised of ocean-related international organizations under the UN including the FAO, GEF, IOC, UNDESA, UNDP, UNEP, and DOALOS.
Global Oceans Forum: Global Forum on Oceans, Coasts, and Islands (GOF) is an international non-governmental organization which seeks sustainable development of the ocean by holding Global Oceans Conferences (GOC).
Opinions gathered on the Yeosu Declaration are reflected in the mid-term report on the declaration by the Organizing Committee for Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea (Yeosu, July 11, 2011).
Inter-ministerial discussions on the declaration are held in Gwacheon, Korea on July 25, 2011 among the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT), the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs (MLTM), and the Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MIFAFF).
The Yeosu Declaration is put on the agenda of the annual meeting of the BIE (November 2011) and a presentation given in order to gather the opinions and support of participating countries and promote the declaration.
Opinions are collected from the Drafting and Review Committee members (Aug. 23 - Sept. 2, 2011), relevant ministries such as MOFAT, the MLTM (Sept. 6 - 16, 2011), and overseas advisors.
The opinions of participating countries are gathered by posting the Yeosu Declaration on the BIE online working system (Sept. 28 - Oct. 31, 2011).
Presentations on the Yeosu Declaration are made at the annual meeting of PICES-2011 (Russia, Oct. 14, 2011), the annual meeting of the Korean Society of Oceanography (Seoul National University, Nov. 3, 2011), the International Symposium organized by the Organizing Committee (Yeosu, Nov. 10, 2011) to draw attention to and support for the declaration at home and abroad.
The Organizing Committee presents its preparation for the Yeosu Declaration at the 150th session of the BIE General Assembly (Paris, Nov. 23, 2011). Banners are erected and promotional materials distributed to gather attention and support for the declaration from participating countries.

Research studies upon which the Yeosu Declaration will be based are carried out by the Korea Institute of Ocean Science & Technology; the Korean Drafting and Review Committees comprised of experts from relevant Korean research institutes, universities and organizations are established to prepare the draft of the Yeosu Declaration.
A joint meeting of the Drafting Committee and the Review Committee is held during the International Symposium in Busan in November, 2010 to discuss the declaration draft. The Korean draft of the declaration is ompleted after various amendments and improvements at the end of December, 2010.
